The salary survey transformed my salary negotiations. I think I, like many others in the field, have suffered from imposter syndrome a bit. The salary survey helped me see that the skill set I have is valuable and reminded me that I should negotiate based on that value. I’ve now successfully negotiated a raise at two different companies based on data from the salary survey. Most recently I was able to negotiate an 18% increase in base salary and a 40% increase in total compensation at a new role.
I want others to know that the numbers they see in the surveys are attainable. For a long time, I felt like there was no way I could ask for the average PM or Sr PM salary. Why would anyone pay me to have that much fun in a job that I love? And that was silly.
